What I'm Reading

I picked up a copy of the Teen Vogue Handbook today, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to enter the fashion industry. Even from the little experience that I have gained over the last few years, I can see how the advice is very applicable. Also, its an easy read with alot of visuals, so its not to hard to breeze through it ( Aftering reading text books all day, the last thing I want is to look at large amoungs of plain text). Its a perfect reference book to keep on hand.
I highly recommend!!

What I've Been Wearing...

I have to admit, I have been having alot of fun incorportating colour into this fall/winter season. I am getting alot of inspiration from jungle pictures, as you can see in the pictures below...

These photos are web cam photos, so they are not the best but atleast you get the idea! I was wear my h&m zebra cardigan, a-wear sequin tights, forever 21 boots and my own hand made necklaces.
I have alot been rocking the rhinestones! My signature since I was 14!

I have also have the tendancy to match my apartment! haha! As you can tell, my favourite colours are all over the walls, so I tend to blend right in like another fixture! Although this is NEVER the case once I step outside!

I was wearing h&m pants, aldo boots and the top was from Mendocino. The necklaces are a combination of forever 21 and my own designs.
I also love my h&m fidora! It is the best for when I am having a bad hair day! haha!

I am wearing my forever21 boots and dress with costa blanca jean jacket and vintage belt.
Well, thats that! Done and done!!

What are you wearing??

Randoms

Hi there... So besides the fact that I find it super creepy that you just wrote about McQueen when I was just showing the collection to a dressmaker friend... I was going to write about it but seems you have read my mind...

Something else of interest though when I was out and about yesterday. Was looking in a book store and found this book that you should definitely have a look at called "Dreaming of Dior" by Charlotte Smith. The illustrations by Grant Cowan are marvelous!!

Another of his illustrations

McQueen's Aliens

I am in love love love with the spring/summer Alexander McQueen collection! So much so that I cannot wait until I can get my hands on something like it! The prints are stellar! The show was haunting! The alien like hair and makeup made the models look like people from another world. I wonder if Alexander McQueen got his inspiration from some star visitors!!

Char and I thought that this one kind of looks like an Irish Dance costume!

And it Looks like I am not the only one feeling inspired by this collection! Danny Roberts posted this beautiful painting he did on his blog!

And look how amazing this dress looks in real life on Camilla Bella! WOW!

Gorgeous!! Well I hope you enjoyed the alien eye candy!!

Peace!

Finding treasure in trash kinda story...

So I was lucky enough to have another shopping trip... I feel it's a kinda treasure in trash story because it was the type of place that sells what I call teenage clubbing wear lycra, faux leather etc. but I did find a treasure... it's an oversized t-shirt with cut out shoulders and in a rainbow print!!! Ohh am loving colour... I also bought a dress from Target (pronounced Tar-jay lol)... It's similar to the Lipsy strapless dress but it has a colourful graffiti print and a zip down the front...

I will add pics when I get a chance to wear them!!! Shall be pretty soon, lots of Christmas parties and summer BBQ's coming up!

Some well waited for pics...

Ao as needed, i have some pics to go along with my last findings. These are some dresses from the Lipsy London brand... Floral and coloured prints are definitely in so these are some fine examples...

This is something light a florally as well from the Forever New chain...

I come from a land down under...

As I'm thriving in 35 degree heat, the call of magpies wake me in the morning and the dry smell of eucalyptus is owe so faint... I know I'm home. I went into the city (Melbourne that is) the other day for my interview with Cue... so far so good, just waiting to hear back early next week). My interview outfit was very stylish (some of my BCBG favs with my grey pin strip pants and red enamel accessories).

After the meeting I had plenty of time to check out whats hot and not here... Am loving the coral colours that are everywhere not just the salmon coral colour but it's like the great barrier reef has come to life... A masive change from the placid colours of fall/winter Canada! One of my fav stores at the moment is Forever New (it would seem to be like Forever 21 but it's not... price points a little higher and quality is a lot better!) definitely check it out. This store also features designs from Lipsy London. Must say quite impressed!!!

Another fabulous thing about shopping in Melbourne is that no one designer or company holds too much weight in the Australian market which is great as you end up with shopping malls (like GPO melbourne) that are simply designer after designer I would say about 30. Veronika Maine, Sherman and Nicolar Gela to name a few. I particularly like Gela as it had a 20's revival for there accessories with the forhead headbands and little cap hats. They also kept the strong shoulder theme going with the Boat neck line (very clever I though as it's too hot to wear anything here, evan with a cap sleeve)...

My shopping... well Gladiator sandals are definitely in for apparent reason (it's too hot to wear anything else). I also purchased a lovely apricot long top (which is long enough to wear as a dress) from the lovely Sass and Bide designers...

Well I know I'm making you jealous when I say I'm immersing myself in sunshine and colour!!! But must say it's a very pleasant change!!!

Tropical Inspiration

So I am sitting here, dreaming of what it would be like to be in Australia with Charmayne right now as the weather in Canada starts to get colder and colder!! I could never understand why people want to wear dreary colours when it gets cold out because doesn't this just make you feel worse?! I say we need to wear MORE colour in the winter to keep us sane until summer is here again!

Maybe I wouldn't be so bitter if I was into a winter sport....although I do enjoying watching the winter olympics!! Which I am getting pretty excited for! GO CANADA! haha
But anyways back imaging myself in Australia. Since they are about to have a long and wonderful summer, here are some inspiration for those who are heading into the summer season down under!

Ta Ta for now!!

Window Shopping

I love the Holt Renfrew window displays on Bloor street!! These are photos from last month, but I love them so much that I had to post them!! Who knew mannequins could look so hot!! (Photos taken by the talented Michael Andrews)
